Spinal Decompression - Back Pain Relief Treatment

Spinal decompression is an effective back pain relief treatment which has no negative side effects.

Spinal decompression is an effective pain relief treatment for conditions such as a herniated disc, degenerative and isthmic spondylolisthesis, spinal stenosis, a bulging disc, and sciatica. The treatment relieves the pressure exerted on pinched nerves in the spinal column, and mitigates the effects of debilitating and chronic back pain.

Chief among the advantages of the spinal decompression procedure is the fact that it can achieve surgery-like results without the risks that back surgery necessitates, such as incision and anesthesia. Furthermore, no medications are necessary, and no negative side effects are associated with spinal decompression.

Signs and Symptoms of ADD

The signs of Attention Deficit Disorder may or may not be incredibly apparent. Because of the intricacies of this disorder and the variations from child to child, diagnosis may prove to be a difficult process.

The first step is understanding that hyperactivity is not synonymous with Attention Deficit Disorder. While a child may exhibit an increased level of activity with this disorder, it is not an inherent factor of ADD.

On the other hand, there are certain characteristics that are prevalent in a child with ADD, such as inattentiveness, impulsiveness, and being easily distracted.

Salmon Makes Healthy Sense

February is American Heart Month and the American Heart Association is urging people to eat more fish, especially fish that is high in omega 3 fatty acids.

These fats are referred to as good fats because they lower bad cholesterol and increase good cholesterol.

At www.americanheart.org, experts recommend two servings of baked or grilled fish each week.

Salmon is a fish that is high in the good fats. It's one of my favorites because it holds up well to just about any cooking method -- baking, broiling, grilling and sauteing.

When you need to fix dinner in a jiffy, salmon is ideal because it cooks quickly. All you need to do is season it, place it in the oven or under the broiler, steam some veggies and have a mixed green salad ready. You'll have a heart-healthy dinner ready in 30 minutes or less.

Researchers Say to Drink This With a Fatty Meal (It May Protect Your Heart)

Say you slip up and down a burger, with bacon on top, and fries, then have some kind of gargantuan ice cream dessert afterward (hey, it happens!). OK, not so good, but, according to a new study, you can protect the damage that meal may do to your blood vessels and heart by drinking this beverage with dinner ...

OJ!

Researchers from the University of Buffalo say that beverages containing flavonoids, like orange juice, may help "neutralize" the damaging effect a high-fat meal can have on your heart and blood vessels.

"Our data show, for the first time to our knowledge, that drinking orange juice with a meal high in fat and carbohydrates prevented the marked increases in reactive oxygen species and other inflammatory agents," says lead author Husam Ghanim, PhD.

Renee Zellweger's Health Scare

Renee Zellweger is opening up about a health scare she had several years ago, one that sent her to the doctor a bit panicked. If you've ever found a lump in your breast, you can probably relate to this.

In 1996, after a self examination, she discovered two small lumps in her right breast and immediately got them checked out. "I thought, 'Oh, I know what you do now, you find out what that is,'" she told SELF magazine. "So I went and found out. ...Then I had a weird couple of days waiting for the phone call."

The results were good: The actress, now 39, didn't have cancer but fibroadenomas, benign breast tumors. Whew! But, her lesson is a reminder to us all to check our boobies, a silly slogan that my doc keeps on little business cards in her exam rooms.

Remember Heidi Montag's Plastic Surgery Rampage? She Now Wants a Breast Reduction

We all gasped when we saw Heidi Montag's big surgery reveal several months ago, and now, according to reports, she's mulling reversing some of that surgery--taking her surgically enhanced G-cup breasts down to a D. Thoughts?

After all that's been flying around in the news about Heidi Montag (and her (soon to be ex?) husband Spencer Pratt), it's hard to raise an eyebrow at much anymore. But, I was encouraged to hear that Heidi is reportedly thinking about having a breast reduction. No, it's not because I have anything against plastic surgery, in general, or large breasts, it's just that what these large breasts have done to her life. She openly admits that she can't go jogging, can't hug anyone (even her dogs), is still dealing with painful swelling and basically feels like a "fragile porcelain doll."

I'm an old married gal (8 years and counting!), but I have to admit, I'm still ga-ga for weddings, so much so that I'm already addicted to this blog. Would I love to go dress shopping again? Yes! Psst! Ever Heard of an Anal Pap Smear? Here's Why You May Want to Discuss With Your Doc

I know, if pap smears weren't bad enough, there's another pap health experts are talking about, but before you groan about yet another uncomfortable test, please take a few seconds and read this post. It could be a life-saving move ...

Farrah Fawcett, who died of anal cancer last year, shined a spotlight on a form of cancer that is often stigmatized and misunderstood. Now, one university is taking a stand to make sure students get tested for and educated about anal cancer, an often sneaky and deadly disease.

Officials at The University of Texas at El Paso Student Health Center say they are the first university to offer something called the "anal pap." The new medical procedure is similar to the standard cervical pap smear, except that cell samples are taken from the anus using a soft swab. The specimen is then sent to a lab where technicians look through a microscope to search for abnormalities that could signal chances for anal cancer.
